When Hermione is tortured in Malfoy Manor, her magic tries to save her and bonds with Draco's in order to end her suffering. She discloses at his trial that they are magically bonded and therefore, under wizard law, he must be aquitted. It also means that if they don't marry and complete the bond within a year, their magical cores will slowly begin to die. Narcissa is determined to turn Hermione into the perfect wife of a Pureblood by the time they wed, and enlists the help of Pansy Parkinson to teach her everything she needs to know. There will be tea. Laundry. Drying charms. Butterbeer. Mistakes.
And slowly, Hermione begins to understand that saving Severus Snape may have very little to do with the night he died.
Author’s Note: This is eventual HG/SS, but the romance is a very late-story development. The early and middle sections focus on Hermione stranded in 1969, young Severus, found family, healing, and timeline changes. There is no romantic dynamic while Severus is a child.
