Summary
Sam and Dean Winchester grew up in Paradise 342, some two hundred years after the Apocalypse ripped the world apart. Now that was a messy business, humans dying left, right and center - but then Evil was defeated, and earth became a promised land, as was foretold in Revelations.
Now humans dwell peaceably in the eternal sunshine of a world unchanged since 1836. God lives among them in the form of a Machine managing all their needs, from their marriages to their daily meals, while their angel overseers keep the humans safe and content. The system is perfect. The angels all say so.
Dean and his friends in the human resistance beg to differ. The angels, particularly that new Seraph who just blew into town, can take their ‘perfect’ Paradise and suck it.

Dean Winchester’s been camp manager of a science research station on the Alaskan tundra for thirteen years. Dean likes his job; fixing the camp trucks, troubleshooting the generators, keeping clueless undergrads and NSF bigwigs from walking into grizzly bears or getting lost in snowstorms — it’s all in a day’s work. It keeps him pretty busy, and this year his brother Sam's visiting too, so he's even busier. So it’s really not any of Dean’s business when some weirdo antisocial ornithologist sets up a tent a few miles away, a dark-haired blue-eyed guy who’s doing a “very long-term" study on birds or wings or something, and who never, ever takes off his big lumpy backpack. But then the new guy starts dropping by camp for coffee and... well, he’s not officially part of camp; he's not Dean’s responsibility; he’s really not Dean’s problem at all, but when a strange blizzard comes sweeping in, Dean gets worried and goes to check. Thing is, Dean's spent years in the sweeping vistas of the Arctic. Amazing series! Beautifully written. The 3rd in the series gets a bit caught up with Cas's mental illness which seemed a bit ooc with the character we saw in the first 2 parts but overall, a masterpiece of fanfiction.

Summary

Summary

This is a deliberate choice on his part, because as a cousin of the King, he'd rather stay unimportant and forgotten.
