The force of her action jostled Loid's arm, unbalancing them both, and before she knew it he was tripping over his feet and falling below.
“Loid!” Her assassin reflexes kicked in, hands swooping in to slide under his back and behind his knees. “I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to make you lose your balance and fall! Oh dear, I nearly got you badly hurt and your legs could've been broken in fifteen different places. Please forgive my—”
She stopped abruptly. Blinking, she peered down at his peaceful expression, his eyes closed with nothing but small puffs of his breathing to be heard.
Oh, she realized quietly, he fell asleep.

“You didn’t tell me you got hit on the head.” Cthoni fussed. She’d just finished washing and looking him over for any more serious injuries, but with how locked up his hair is at the scalp, it was pretty hard to tell if he had anything there on her own. She would have to rely on him to say something, but obviously she couldn’t.
“Yeahh, guess I just forgot, huh?” Jabber turned to face her with a smile, suddenly much more energetic. “But if I had told you, you wouldn’t have gone and dug your fingers into it.” He reached to keep messing with it, but Cthoni smacked his hand away.
“I don’t want you to hurt yourself.” She said without thinking, and Jabber’s face went soft.
Jabber and Cthoni bathe together. Cthoni works through her complicated feelings towards Jabber.

Cthoni is sent on a solitary mission to a remote city where food is found in an abundance, food the small scavenger group calling themselves “Raiders” that she has found herself aligned with does not have. Bandits of any kind are not welcome, even ones as lowly as she. So, she must be careful.
Still, it is a task of relative simplicity.
That is until a small child that insists on bothering her as much as possible makes it more difficult than not to complete her objective without drawing attention. Or on the self imposed task of not thinking about what it might be like to be a mother.
