Summary
So after the Ereborian refugees settle in Ered Luin, Thorin decides they don't need him anymore and runs off in a fit of over-dramatic self-exile. Of course, he doesn't tell anyone. Time passes, and he finds work as a smith in the small town of Bree. More time passes, and he meets a hobbit named Bilbo. He never brings up the whole "by-the-way-I'm-a-king" story. Fast forward to now, and the sappiest couple in the Shire (known as much for their heart eyes as for their numerous camping trips) is currently at home. And then Gandalf knocks on the door.
Heavily inspired by Lindzzz's brainstorming and chats with Ranubis! This is just a short ficlet that took over my brain.
