Summary
"Happy to be of service," Hayden bowed, and Shane laughed, just as the door clicked open again behind him.
"Who is this?" A deep voice asked abruptly, in an accent that Shane dimly noticed sounded Russian.
"Our new roommate, Rozanov," Hayden rolled his eyes with a long-suffering sigh. "I literally told you about him last night."
Shane turned to see one of the most attractive men he'd ever seen in his life standing a foot away from him.
Realizing he'd been staring for a moment too long, Shane stuck out his hand. "I'm Shane Hollander."
The young man appraised him with disinterest for several seconds before saying, "Okay."
Shane dropped his hand, his face burning.
"Shane, this is Ilya Rozanov, but everyone just calls him Rozanov," Hayden exhaled. "And he is my asshole roommate of two years, going on three, and now one of your roommates.”
Rozanov smirked. “You are mad I get my own room while you share with him.”
“Oh, fuck off, Rozanov,” Hayden retorted. “Unlike you, I have friends, and one of them is Shane.”
“I have friends,” Rozanov dismissed.
“Friends that you don’t fuck,” Hayden clarified. -

Summary
Shane Hollander’s hopes for the NHL were ripped from him by an ACL tear and replaced with doctor prescribed opioids at age 18. Four years later, hockey is a distant memory and his days consist of strange men and chasing a feeling drugs can never seem to provide anymore.
Ilya Rozanov’s family returned home to Russia when his father’s mental state deteriorated and the government wasted no time snatching back his work visa. Ilya stayed behind in that godforsaken city to do the only thing he had ever been able to support his family doing: sell dope.
Ilya sees a lot of sad people. Shane sees a lot of horny men. Neither of them are prepared for what they see in each other, and what it means for the boxes they’ve allowed themselves to be put into.

Summary
Turning 40 was supposed to be celebrated. It was another milestone, another decade completed. It wasn’t as revered as 30 was, but people still threw parties and highlighted their 40th birthdays. Yet Ilya wasn’t unaffected. In fact, he was the complete opposite—he dreaded this birthday.
He should be happy. He had a wonderful husband, a beautiful home, and a daughter, whom he was (terrified) excited to raise. But he wasn’t. Turning 40 wasn't a fun day—it was a reminder. A reminder that he will have spent 40 years being alive on this Earth, 28 of those existing without his beloved mother.
Irina Rozanova, who was a beautiful and kind woman, who died at 39. Irina Rozanova, whom Ilya found at 12, laying on her side, cold and still with a bottle of pills on her nightstand, the woman who never got to see her 40th year.
He knew this day was coming. He knew that one day he’d have his first year where he would be older than his mother was when she had died (if he even made it to that age). But that didn’t mean he was prepared for the feelings it would bring. And Ilya didn’t know if he could handle them.
(He couldn’t).
Currently (trying to, the ao3 curse has no mercy on me) updating weekly on Sundays.
