Summary

Much later, a blackened Luo Binghe is horrified when he believes he has accidentally ripped out most of his shizun's beautiful hair and runs away out of shame. Surprisingly, Mobei-jun is the one to clear this up. (Don't you know, Junshang? Humans have re-attachable hair.)

Just as an overflowing bowl cracks, Jiang Fengxian suddenly feels light, speaking:
“Yes, you're right”, he utters, interrupting his wife at a brusque half-word, and she stares at him perplexed. “You are absolutely right, san nyang, A-Xian is my son. And I've wanted to keep it from you for years, but you're too smart and I'm a fool caught in a lie”, he confessed. “And yes, I loved Cangse more than life, that she had to run away from me because I forced myself on her, of course. That's the way it was. And A-Xian I brought in to raise him as a second wife, you and everyone, absolutely right. You all figured me out,', he smiled, not feeling a gram of smile, and fatigue kin to his bones; if he were a stronger cultivator, he would have gotten a qi deviation, no less.
Instead, his wife stares as if seeing for the first time, and Jiang Fengmian feels wrongly justified for moments of silence, not fully realizing what he has said or with what certainty, until behind him the silence is broken by the thud of wood hitting the floor.

She shot him a death glare.
“What? I was joking! Can’t a guy make a silly joke about killing his betrayer he once called a friend?” Mono smiled innocently as if that joke wasn’t dark itself.
“That’s my mom you’re talking about, so you better be joking.” She put her hand on Mono’s shoulder. “Or else I’m gonna have to bury two bodies instead of one.” Viola patted him on the back and walked away.
Now it was her turn to smile oh-so-innocently.

The Elrics have been told that the Life-Sewing Alchemist, Shou Tucker, is a bit… weird. They didn't think it meant the guy's poaching and trying to be a good dad to every orphaned kid, teen and young adult in the area. They expected something a little less benign.
This is a surprisingly good type of weird.
