Summary
“No, lad. Don’t—” Achilles voice is weak, strained. He sounds like he’s crying—or close to it. Zagreus can feel the way that he’s trembling through the spear, and it hurts him in a way that he cannot define with words.
“Achilles, s-sir…” the Styx rushes up to take him, leaving Achilles standing there, his hands barely holding the bloodied spear—that had, just a second ago, been lodged inside of the Prince’s abdomen—aloft. The point of the blade is broken.
The spear falls from Achilles’ hands, spraying dark, red blood across the tile. And he sobs.
--
Zagreus cannot die. Not truly. That doesn't make it any easier for his loved ones to watch him be taken by the Styx, time and again.
It all comes to a head after a particularly disastrous training session with Achilles.

Summary
Sleep lacked for nothing. He had a fulfilling job, a kind but strict boss, a soft bed waiting for him on his days off, at least one friend in the form of the realm’s rebellious prince, a friendly relationship with the realm’s most beautiful and commanding fury, and a brother who cared enough to visit once in a while. Realistically, he had everything he could ask for. Yet, as he thickened the lines of a bat he had just sketched into the decorative border he was constructing, his mind drifted to the last dream he had traveled in. The warmth of the fire and the loving gaze of the mother as she looked upon her sons.
He remembered the mortal mother’s eyes and his heart ached. He tried to imagine Thanatos laughing with him, but the image left him empty.
At the end of his shift a strange voice called out to him, beckoning him to the elder sigil in the back of the administrative chamber. Perhaps his extended family could help him find what was missing.

Summary
Zagreus keeps asking if Hypnos is alright, which is frustrating for two reasons: one, he’s not, he’s very, very much not, and two, there’s no way he’s going to tell anyone that, not when he’s worked for so long to maintain the image of himself as the ever-cheerful voice of positivity in the underworld.
No one is allowed to know just how much Hypnos is not okay.
Until they do.
(Or: in which Hypnos tries to put himself in an eternal slumber, and Zagreus and Thanatos have to traverse the landscape of his mind to convince him to wake up, or risk losing him forever.)
