As usual, Merlin has utterly failed in keeping a low profile by inadvertently getting himself dragged into a mess of a situation that appears to have something to do with a seemingly unkillable snake man, a toad woman, an order of phoenixes, and a boy named Harry Potter who, he quickly finds, is equally bemused by his current predicament. When he discovers how lost the boy is, he resolves to help him and his friends get rid of this dark lord--as well as their malignant (and worse, ineffectual) new teacher.

Alternate summary, according to TV Tropes: A man attempts to escape slavery by turning into one of his culture heroes, teaching his daughter how to do magic, killing people, and flower arranging.

Summary
In 1993, Gilderoy Lockhart points a stolen wand at Harry Potter and Ron Weasley with the intent to Obliviate them. The wand doesn't backfire. Gilderoy's "discovery" of the Chamber of Secrets is a short-term success.
Other consequences are not short-term at all.

I was watching the Chamber of Secrets movie several years back when the scene in question began to play...and immediately I wanted to know what would happen if the wand had done what it was supposed to do. The answer got very complicated, very, *very* quickly.Blame Edgar Allan Poe for the title.

Prince Arthur has been raised to one day rid the land of sorcerers and their magic as Uther wishes. He is meant to find and bring in Emrys, The Dragon Prince. Yet when he and Emrys meet it is nothing like he had come to expect. Merlin is known as Merlin by his friends and family, but to the majority of his family's young and growing kingdom and the outside world he is better known as Emrys. He knows of King Uther 'Butcher' Pendragon but his heir Prince Arthur is a mystery to him. It is immediately clear that they are not friends but maybe not enemies either. Sequel to Moment of Chance. Can be read as stand alone.
