Here is a lesson Tenya's learned recently— he can ask for help, if he needs it.

He's pretty sure he needs help now. So he sends a text message and hopes for the best.

Aizawa asks, “How did this happen?"

After a long, long moment, Yagi tells him. And then he says, “Shouta, this isn’t your fault.”

    Yagi is wrong.

Or: An entire generation of top heroes has been trained to trust, respond to, and obey unconditionally, one voice. They learn through bitter hardship that, when that voice gives your orders in the field, you follow them without question.

This has never been a problem, until it is.

    Sentinel is the vigilante.

He’s the one who inspires all the rest of them, the one who everyone aspires to be, the good one, if you ask even other pros and they thought nobody important was listening.

He has the world convinced that he’s Robin Hood, targeting people and entities who usually throw money at consequences until they go away, who are protected by laws they lobbied and pressured into existence, who have enough raw capital that they can dodge any law enforcement that they want. Sentinel is the champion of the small and the hidden, ally of investigative journalists and muckrakers, the bane of bullies and abusers.

Enji might’ve respected him, if the guy cared enough about his own actions to actually become a registered pro.

Pro-Hero Endeavor is called by the Hero Commission to deal with an old vigilante rival of his. He really wishes he'd just said no when they asked him to do it.

Inko helps her son put together a first aid kit when he’s in his first year of middle school.

It is, probably, a long time coming. Inko remembers his childhood fascination with taking her purses apart, endless questions about each item she carried with her. The objects he would always linger on were never her office keys, or the yen coins, or her impressive collection of bank pens.

(‘Those are painkillers, baby, they help with headaches.’

‘Of course I have band-aids, in case you scrape your knees.’

‘Those are antiseptic wipes. No, close, but they’re different from the antihistamine cream.’)

(‘Why do you carry all of that, Mom?’

‘Well, just in case I need it, or you need it. Or anyone else needs it.’)

“How’s our status?” Tenya asks, muted and congested.

“I’d rather be fighting All for One again,” says Shouto, without hesitation or apparent irony.

Izuku snorts, and then regrets it immediately. His throat hurts so much.

Tenya casts his most unimpressed look at Shouto. “You never even directly fought All for One. Out of the three of us, only Izuku did that.”

“Technically —” says Izuku, because, well, technically, but a round of chest-deep coughing cuts him off. Probably for the best

“Okay,” says Shouto, “then I’d rather be fighting Dabi again. Does that paint a more accurate picture for you?”

Tenya grimaces, and then covers his eyes as if the light hurts him. It probably does — Tenya gets headaches even when he doesn’t have a Quirk-induced flu.

“Maybe you’re right,” he says, and Shouto would look smug if he didn’t look so miserable.

Established pro-heroes and roommates Iida, Todoroki, and Midoriya get hit with a flu Quirk. It does as advertised.
