Obi-Wan has had a hard day. Qui-Gon announces his decision to train Anakin Skywalker before the entire Jedi Council, and then coldly dismisses Obi-Wan on the landing platform as they board the starship back to Naboo. Obi-Wan's world is coming apart. For once, he does not quite know how to cope, made worse by the fact that he is sharing quarters on the starship with Qui-Gon himself.

At some point their efforts had shifted from retrieving survivors to retrieving bodies.
Qui-Gon couldn’t say when.
The living had been easier to seek out. They made strong ripples in the Force, full of fear and pain and desperation. Sometimes it was their hope, or their hopelessness, that shone the strongest, and left trails for Qui-Gon to follow through the rubble.
He supposed finding the living was easier for the other rescuers too. Their devices were attuned to life signs. They were searching for heat, for breaths. For heartbeats. But even when there were no more heartbeats to be found, their work was far from over.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan cope with the aftermath of a particularly difficult mission.
