    Slightly flushed, he adjusts his glasses and clears his throat before continuing, probably feeling the expectant gazes on him. “My circulation isn’t the best, and I sometimes have trouble moving my fingers when it’s colder. I’ll be able to keep working once I warm up a bit, so please don’t worry.”

    Every remaining word of protest dies an immediate death on Soleum’s tongue. He stares up at his brother like his arm has been cut off.

    He’s home. Soleum is home. Isn’t this the very place he has been fighting to get back to for over two years? He swallows, throat suddenly thick with clouded-up longing. Home is what he spent two years risking fates worse than death for, and home is what he’s finally achieved.

    “Okay,” Soleum says helplessly. His younger brother’s lips curve into a satisfied smile, and Soleum’s heart settles somewhat at the sight.

    OR; Soleum goes home. He adjusts easily, of course; because why wouldn't he, in a world without death chasing at his heels?
