Rey was still trembling. Horrified that the weight in her arms would vanish like it had before. She clings tighter, even holding her breath as if that would do anything.
It was that sensation, that emptiness, that had kept her awake for months. She would fall asleep and then jolt forward with the same momentum that he had fallen back. It was a sickly sort of feeling that accompanied the awareness that the Force doesn’t play fair. Just as soon as he had found her, he was gone again and gone for good.
Or so it seemed.
