For Aegon Targaryen hate and love had always come hand in hand.
There isn’t a single person he loves but don’t despise. That contradiction traces back to his early years of innocence, to the periodicity of the aversions he had found in every step he had ever took. He thinks of his mother, whose mouth is always filled with words of righteousness and forgiveness, whose hand is always quick to hit but never to caress. He thinks of his father, drinking himself to oblivion, chastising him for acting in his image, whose mouth is always curled at his twin with delight. He thinks of his siblings, disgusted by his own actions, pitying the man he has become, turning their eyes towards one another instead of to him.

Aegon tries to drink himself into an early grave but fails when he is gifted a second chance in the form of a liver transplant from an anonymous donor.
Sobriety doesn’t agree with Aegon, so the man decides to foster new hobbies to numb the void, including collecting outrageously expensive postage stamps, nude gardening and being an intolerable parasite to his older sister.

Alicent intenta apurar su paso para llegar lo más pronto posible, intentando negar en su interior la verdad, esperando que él no esté en esa habitación de parto. Obviamente los Dioses no la escuchan, pues efectivamente es Aegon quien está presente al lado de la cama, como lo ha estado en los partos anteriores, sosteniendo la mano de su hermana mayor, de la madre de sus bastar-, de sus bien amados sobrinos.
