    Summary

Buck steps closer, takes the knife from Eddie’s hand, the movement careful and gentle, and sets it aside. “Hey,” he tilts his head into Eddie’s line of sight. “What’s going on?”

“You know that thing that’s been going around, about the sun?”

    “The dimming thing? Eddie, that’s–”

“It’s not,” he cuts him off right away. “The sun is losing output, we have data. And not gradually, not in a way that gives us centuries – we’re talking a decade. Two, tops.”

Buck leans his hip against the counter beside him, crosses his arms over his chest. “…okay.”

“There’s a team that’s been on it and they think they have a lead on a solution. They need someone to go out there and retrieve whatever the thing is and bring it back.”

“Why are you telling me this?”

Eddie doesn’t have to look, but he does anyway. He owes Buck that much.

“It’s going to be a three person crew. A scientist, an engineer, and someone to fly the ship.”

The silence sits around Eddie’s neck, drawing tighter with every second that passes.

He can see the moment the words land.

    “And that someone is you.”

    Or,
a loose project Hail Mary AU.

    Summary

Someone exclaims in the background, but Buck’s voice cuts through louder when he asks, “You… you want to borrow my…?”

“Flashlight,” Eddie supplies with patient emphasis. It is not, strictly speaking, a leap of faith to assume Buck of all people would have one, but he did move recently, so— who knows what’s still lost in Packed Box Limbo. “Please tell me you have one I can use.”

“I…” there’s a lengthy pause on the other end, Buck’s voice weak and tapering off at the end. “Y-Yeah, okay.”

Or: Eddie just needs to borrow some tools. Fleshlight, flashlight, what’s the difference? The distinction has never been more illuminating.

    Summary

“Alright,” Eddie shrugs, laissez-faire. He pulls Buck’s plate to the center of the table; pushes his own forward in kind. Then he begins a drawn-out circus routine of plucking an olive at a time up and out of the bowl and plopping them onto their respective dishes, one by one.

The delicate, repetitive movement of Eddie’s pinched fingers reminds Buck of picking the petals off of flowers. He loves me. He loves me not. He love—

An olive hits him square in the forehead.

“There,” Eddie says, resolute, as the pitted projectile tumbles to the ground at Buck’s feet. “Equal treatment.”

Or: Buck, Eddie, and the olive theory. Well, in theory.

    Summary

Buck had almost never been more honest when he’d responded, “I think I’d kill someone to see you in something lacy.”

At the time, Eddie had laughed it off, and Buck was certain that would be the end of it. They’d keep working on ways for Eddie to feel more comfortable asking for what he wants. Evidently, Eddie had been thinking about something entirely different because holy shit.

    Eddie looks–

    He’s wearing—

Buck scrambles onto his stomach, reaching out and stopping just short of feeling lace under his fingertips. It’s a jockstrap, made of deep purple lace with a botanical pattern, a white band stretched over his hips.

“I didn’t even kill anyone.” Buck whispers, awed.

Eddie snorts. “Prouda you, bud.” He snarks, but he’s blushing bright red anyway. His voice is far softer when he asks, “do you… like it?”

    OR

Buck has no shortage of fantasies about Eddie. Eddie doesn't mind indulging him.

    Summary

Buck has always known, objectively, that Eddie is attractive. It’s one of the basic facts of the universe: the sky is blue, LA traffic sucks, and Eddie Diaz is one of the hottest men Buck has ever seen. But the new information he’s having to process is just how pretty Eddie is. The way the dark pink lace cradles his pecs is, frankly, obscene. And even with the way the shadows are falling in the picture, he can just about make out the outline of-- Jesus fucking Christ, Buck should definitely not be zooming in on a photo of his best friend’s dick to try and get a closer look. That has to be crossing some kind of boundary, even for them.

    OR

Eddie Diaz has been having some revelations about his gender and sexuality. He hasn't been sure how to talk to Buck about it, but then Buck accidentally discovers a picture on Eddie's phone.
