Summary
When you're a Quirkless orphan on the streets, you have to fight twice as hard for just about everything. Survival. Respect. Allies. Most of the time, you're just barely scraping by. And, for that matter, so is everyone else around you.
So Izuku does what he does best: he helps. Sometimes that means mediating gang disputes; other times, it's something as simple as grocery shopping. It's not like anyone else will, after all.
With so many hopes riding on him, there's only ever been one option. Quirk or no Quirk, UA or no UA—he's going to become a hero.

Shinsou Hitoshi was careful. Always. He made it though his days, no matter how shitty there were. Some days were more difficult than others, but he managed. And no one noticed. No one noticed how much he loved being away from home, and how his face fell when he said goodbye at the end of the day. Which was good, because he didn't want anyone to notice.
He didn't. Really.Today was one of the harder days. Shinsou just hoped he could get through training with Eraserhead without the meticulous man noticing.

If you had asked him where he thought he would be at age twenty-five, Aizawa Shōta probably wouldn’t have said, “Sharing a crap apartment with this weird guy who’s somehow sort of become my friend, trying to kick a smoking habit, and failing to pay the bills with underground hero work.” He had, at one point, slightly more ambition for himself. But here he is, curled up on a futon in a room barely large enough to stretch out in, getting the shit kicked out of him on a semi-regular basis in the name of underground heroics and, presumably, the greater good. He’s been doing it for four years and will probably doing it for many more. What else is there?
It turns out, the answer is "a lot."

In which Aizawa and Yagi disagree about a lot of things, and yet keep finding themselves together. Being a hero means different things for different people. Not being a hero anymore means nothing; it is unimaginable. It's also unavoidable, so at some point they're going to have to figure out how to talk about that. First, though, they have to figure out how to talk to each other. (Story starts pre-canon and continues through current manga chapters.)

Summary
At UA, Shinsou's favorite class is ethics, taught by Aizawa Shouta, his mentor and the man who Shinsou has idolized since he was a child. During the end of the semester, Aizawa assigns an end of the term paper that Shinsou throws himself into in an attempt to impress Aizawa and very quickly learns a lesson about what it's like to be impatient afterwards, especially when Aizawa makes some comments to him that cause him to overthink his assignment.

This is also what he knows:
Weekends and vacations are reserved for walking neighborhood dogs. The elderly are the most powerful people on Earth. Local gods are picky eaters. Trust is a feeble, feeble thing. Magic cards are incredibly difficult to seal, especially when the world thinks you're a vigilante. Heroes are not magicians, but magicians can be heroes.
Becoming a cardcaptor wasn't on Izuku's bucket list, but he'll be damned if he doesn't make the best out of it.
