A holiday 80's au in which Dean, a bored mechanic, signs up for a penpal service on a drunken whim and winds up with the strangest yet most interesting penpal he could imagine, all while becoming maybe-sort-of-friends with the asshole lawyer who keeps stealing his diner booth. There's diner conversations, warm whiskey, cold coffee, and plenty of 80's music to go around in this incredibly self-indulgent moody and angsty rom-com.

Wow. This was so good! I loved all the 80’s music & references, You did a great job capturing it.
I loved your characterisations of both Cas and Dean in this. You captured them beautifully and I love the way the story unfolded (and ended) realistically and matter of factorially. ❤️❤️❤️

Summary

Summary
Castiel Novak has never been a fan of Valentine's Day. But since he inherited his father's NYC restaurant, it's at least a day where he makes a decent profit. When the restaurant has a minor kitchen fire on Valentine's Day and has to shut down for the night, Castiel finds himself celebrating this greeting-card holiday with Dean Winchester, the hot firefighter who sparks Castiel's interest at the scene of the fire.
(Title is from 5.14, My Bloody Valentine, and is a reference to what Sam says Dean calls Valentine's Day).
