Summary
Shen Yuan, a Qing Jing researcher with low cultivation and an unhealthy interest in the demonic entities that crawl out of the rift in the abyssal zone of the ocean, gets his hands on an amulet to allow him to personally travel down there to conduct his studies. It gives him an aquatic spiritual form, with fascinating traits to help him survive at the bottom of the sea.
The problem is that he’s not only being allowed down there for his research. Twenty years ago, the levels of demonic energy emanating from the rift rose and haven’t fallen since. Cang Qiong monitors the coast, certain that there’s a powerful entity down there, lurking, biding its time. If possible, Shen Yuan is meant to find and report on that entity—but the chances of him actually stumbling across it are low enough to basically be zero, right?
Or: There is a creature at the bottom of the ocean. It takes exception to having its territory crossed over.

Summary
Demon Emperor is a heavy metal band that's stepping into the spotlight. Although the entire band is good, the lead vocalist Luo Binghe is really the star! At least that's what Shen Yuan thinks, and will say as much to anyone who asks.
He just hasn't gone to see any of their shows because, well, he'd rather avoid as many awkward conversations in life as possible!
But when Shang Qinghua, his friend and second guitarist in the band, insists on him going to see at least one show, Shen Yuan folds. He'll just go, chat with Shang Qinghua a bit after, and go right home! Nothing else!

He couldn’t change the past (he had written some time travel ideas into his notes, but even if they’d used them, they’d still run into the brick wall that was the System’s demands), and he couldn’t reveal the System’s existence, so ‘actually this is a story I wrote to pay rent and a mysterious entity is forcing us to run around in it like rats in a maze and it really really wanted you to go into the Abyss sorry’ was also off the table (so off the table that the System interrupted its status updates to flash up a big red warning window for even thinking about it).
So all he could do was mitigate the damage by taking the wind out of the protagonist’s sails.
By making Cucumber-bro as pathetic as possible! There was no glory in kicking a man while he was down, after all!
Due to a Without-A-Cure flare up, Shang Qinghua is sent to Jin Lan City in Shen Qingqiu's place. Shit, what do you mean the protagonist is back two years early? Okay, Shang Qinghua, think fast, & start talking!

If Shang Qinghua had been sober, his heart probably would’ve given out. Instead, he shakily questioned, “Mobei… Jun?”
OR
Mobei Jun hears Shen Yuan refer to Shang Qinghua with a nickname, what ensues is pure jealousy and two idiots trying to understand each other's feelings.
