Summary

Bilbo clenched his teeth as anger flared hot in his throat. He narrowed his eyes. “You were the one who sent everyone in to come and save me,” he gritted.
“Because you’re contractually under my protection,” said Thorin. “Which is a liability.”
“Contractually, I’m on this quest,” said Bilbo, a dangerous light in his eyes. “Contract may be voided by mutual agreement. I do not agree to leave.”
Thorin actually growled, to Bilbo’s intense satisfaction. “I’ll pay you your agreed-upon share if you go home,” he said.
“Oh, are you buying me out now?” said Bilbo. “I’m not here for the money.”
Thorin spun to face him, and stalked forward until his nose was inches from Bilbo’s face. “Then why. Are you here,” he hissed.
“What’s it to you,” said Bilbo, a little bitterly.Series

Summary
In the end, it had been Gandalf’s decision to allow the second king of the Noldor, returned suddenly from death itself like a fire-eyed messenger of doom, to join their company. Aragorn had at first been in favor of sending him back to Rivendell for Elrond to deal with, but Gandalf had said that for him to be sent back to the land of the living at all was indication enough that he had a part to play in their quest, and Gandalf had had the final say.
Fëanor joins the Fellowship. It goes about as well as you'd expect.

Summary
After the Battle of the Five Armies and return to home, Bilbo feels strangely restless. Well, the way his family tries to marry him off might be contributing to this. The One Ring decides it needs to understand its bearer better in order to properly manipulate him - the hobbit is proving unexpectedly good at resisting its influence.
The road to East is long and this was never supposed to happen, but violence was never Bilbo's preference when it came to solving problems - whether he was aware that a problem existed or not. The Wise and the Mighty might say that everything has already been tried against Sauron, but Good Hobbit Sense and actually communicating somehow hadn't made that list.
