Summary
“We’re people, that’s great news,” Alfred reiterates, steering the topic back to neutral waters. “I guess let’s rip the bandage off—are we brothers?”
“We’re brothers no matter what,” Matthew quickly reminds him.
Warmth spreads through his chest, but Alfred rolls his eyes, “Are we related?”
A story told in five parts about DNA testing, chosen families, fake birth certificates, group chats, and the slow mending of a centuries-old hurt.

Summary
When academic failings have only ever brought shame and humiliation, progress feels just as impossible and pointless as it always has been. Six-year-old twin brothers Alfred and Matthew both enjoy school despite their academic struggles. When their worrying performance at school leads to a meeting between their new classroom teacher, Mr Bonnefoy, and their father. Deeper issues come to light, which explain why the two boys who are eager to learn are falling behind at school. Mr Bonnefoy has a keen eye for detail and his acute perceptions relveals troubles that cannot be fixed simply with a few after-school tutoring sessions to help with the boys’ reading and writing. Their father doesn’t take to the sessions too well, but the boys are really taking a shine to Mr Bonnefoy and Arthur won’t let them quit the extra tutoring even if it means having to put up with the man in question, who asks far too many personal questions.

Summary
“Oh my god,” she said, loud and shrill. “Did someone attack you? Are you having a stroke? Wait—wait, are you cursed?!”
The waiter, coming to ask if they wanted refills, froze mid-step.
Francis tried to laugh, which only made his face throb worse. “I don’t think I’m cursed.”
“You’re bleeding!” she cried. “You were fine, like, just a minute ago! What is this, some kind of prank?”
Or: Most soulmates share emotions, thoughts, or dreams. Not Arthur and Francis. They share pain. And neither of them has any idea the other exists.
