Summary
It’s a lazy Sunday afternoon in their flat, and George and Chris lay down together on their couch, The thing between the two of them was pretty new. Chris hadn’t really ever thought he and George would ever be anything to each other but best mates really. But one day, after a pub crawl that lasted until 3 in the morning, when George had taken care of a very hungover Chris, he had looked at George and realized that he didn’t ever want to live without him.

In an attempt to block out his forever unhelpful stream of thoughts, Chris shakily pulls out a lighter, and successfully lights, what is admittedly his fourth cigarette of the night, on his second try. His unsteady hands fumbling to place it securely back in the pocket of his jacket. In its moments of it being lit, the lighter had provided Chris with some semblance of warmth. With it now off he finds himself freezing fucking cold, arms feeling like they’re laced with ice. It probably doesn’t help that he’s not even wearing a jacket. Chris stays out there anyways, hypothermia be damned, feeling like he’s drowning while he’s on land and praying that everything could just fucking stop for one brief moment of respite.

As the oldest member of the Bad Batch, Echo would consider himself pretty responsible. He took care of his squad when they needed him, which was most of the time. Echo was great at taking care of his family, but completely awful at taking care of himself.

He would stay if Jason asked but he doesn't want to. He can't handle forcing anyone else to stay and mistaking it as care, he's learned that lesson. Roy is his partner and one of the only people Jason has left and he's not going to ruin it over some fucking friends with benefits bullshit because he gets weepy and depressed after sex. He's fine- he'll be fine.
If Roy doesn't want to stay Jason's not going to make him.
If he's not good enough-
But he wishes he was.
Maybe if he'd been better Roy would actually want him.
OR
Jason drops after sex and tries to hide it from Roy, it doesn't work.

So when George asks him, while relaxing in their hotel room, to join him on one of his long runs in his training for the Tokyo marathon, he happily accepts the invitation. Arthur knew he wasn't supposed to feel this way.
It wasn't the first time he'd had that thought. Nor the second, or third, or fiftieth, or maybe even two hundredth time he'd thought that. He'd lost count of the amount of times he'd sat opposite his best friend and thought to himself, you can't be doing this. But he was smart enough to know that feelings rarely cared about rationality. They didn't care about what would be sensible.
