The mountain burned in his dreams. It burned back in the brotherhood, it burned after. Macaque did what he had to, in order to keep those dreams from coming true. He did what he had to save his people, he couldn’t save Wukong from the future he heard, so this time he will do more. In doing so he creates a new future all together. And new dreams.
Or Macaque ‘makes’ a deal with heaven, and a lot changes because of it. It gets worse before it gets better. A gilded cage is still a cage.
