The words seem to catch Rozanov off guard. He simply nodded, looking down away from Shane.
Shane was shaking with fury. No, this couldn't be how this happens. The first queer person in the NHL couldn't be outed, shamed and scared. Something shifted in Shane's mind, ever his mother’s son he began to plot.
“Have you watched the full video? How clear is your face? Is there any denying it's you?” The questions fell out of his mouth.

Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander famously hated each other, and for their entire careers they had floated in each other’s orbits. Constantly competing, chirping and, as much as they would both deny it, there was definitely some heated staring from afar.
All that changes when Shane runs into Ilya on the roof of a club in Boston, with a cigarette in hand and a problem Shane was convinced he could fix.

Summary
McGill Redbirds’ alternate captains Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov barely speak a word to each other off the ice. Their lack of communication is beginning to weigh on the team, and with playoffs right around the corner, Coach Wiebe is not taking any chances. So, he decides that until the season is over, Ilya will move into Shane’s apartment so they can learn to become something like friends. Ilya only has a few problems with this arrangement. 1. He hates packing 2. He hates Shane Hollander 3. He hates Shane Hollander’s very public boyfriend and 4. Ilya Rozanov has a fat crush on Shane Hollander. Shane and Ilya had not talked since before Rose, after he freaked out about the tuna melts. Now they were at the All Stars together, met on the beach and were supposed to meet each other like old times. It was supposed to be a nice reunion. Ilya was waiting patiently, or rather impatiently, knowing that this would be a chance he could steal away a moment with him.
Except Shane didn't show up. He freaked out again and he didn't text Ilya until last second. A year and a half passed and now Shane is dating Kelsey Langman, a basketball player. He meets Ilya at the club again and shit is stirred up.
