Summary
Jack Frost has, since his death, lived three lives: he's been the Fun-oriented proto-Guardian; she's also been a kind, compassionate Winter Queen; and they've been an Ultra-hip, before-their-time Jewish mother. Jack has watched one child grow, just out of her reach, she could look but not touch just as with any other child. She has taken in the unwanted and cast-off as friends and family. She has made and taken care of and BEEN taken care of by friends, ranging from Queen Elinor of the Summer Court teaching her the art and science of Ruling a Season, to falling in love and raising a child with the time-traveling alien who taught her how to fight, to hosting the Ghost world's first Bat Mitzvah. He's developed skills and talents, and always ALWAYS defys expectations.
Let's get into that.
In the same universe as my other fic, "Raising a Legend", this work focuses more on Jack's relationships with their extended family and friends, where Raising focused more on the family unit of Yaakov/Jack-Motle/North-Aster/Bunny. For example, while there are mentions of and an appearance by my OC, Avagail in Raising, her stories will be here. I've also decided to put Yaakov and Aster's early/pre-Motle relationship here.

Rocky stands at the entrance of the dorm.
“Grace ok, question?”
“…no bud. I’m not.”
“…” Rocky seems to want to step forward, thinks better of it, then shrinks away at the admission, the ball wobbling as he takes a step back. On the far edge of the bed. Grace takes stark notice of the berth and feels cold. His fingers pluck absentmindedly at the sideseams of his shirt. “Grace upset. At Rocky, question?”
Grace doesn’t respond right away, letting the question sink in. Rocky doesn’t push, for which he can only thank tirelessly. He can’t let himself relish in the final moments he will ever hold Rocky’s respect, not when they are so tinged with tension. He clears his throat.
“Let me tell you a story, ok? I think it might help.”
Or
There’s this thing about waves: the longer they lap at wet sand, the denser it gets. And Grace is choking on sand that’s been there for years.

And Grace didn’t want to say anything. Wasn’t planning to. It was shameful. It was cowardly. It was pathetic. But—
But—
“I didn’t want to go, Rocky,” Grace wheezed out, the words spilling, tearing from his throat, jagged and bloody and ripping at the seams, and it hurt— “I didn’t volunteer. I-I didn’t want to be a hero.”

Aka. The Eridians assume Grace is a pebble.

In my thoughts, I recall that conversation about me being cute. Could I find Grace cute?
I focus on Grace for a split moment.
…
Then I went back towards my xenonite. Nah, full grown adult over there— despite being around 30 Earth years old, and if that were converted to Eridian math— that was very young. Pebbles could barely speak yet at that age. But this was an alien— a human we're talking about. Grown ass man.
Or so Rocky thought.
(5 times Rocky witnesses Grace acting like a pebble, and the 1 time Rocky acts like one himself. Featuring, a reunion between Rocky and Adrien!
