“What do you want to be?” Jayce was bearded and haggard and hopeful.
“Yours,” Viktor said, a memory and a realization both, like it was a truth that was woven into each of his metal and organic molecules.

Viktor returns to Piltover after years of exile with one certainty: he's dying.
Old wounds reopen when Viktor discovers Jayce has rebuilt the very thing he once betrayed Viktor over. Outrage blooms, but so too, do new possibilities—ones that uncover a dangerous connection between magic, ambition, and the looming Gray.
As they attempt to mend their fractured partnership, Jayce grapples with the part he has played in Piltover's fervent pursuit of progress—and in Viktor's continuing deterioration. They confront truths they've hidden from themselves as well as one another: desires long buried, sacrifices made in desperation, and how far either of them will go for love.
Some lies protect us, others destroy us—but the hardest ones to overcome are the lies we tell ourselves.

What has Viktor done to deserve this? At what point did Jayce come to value him so highly? Somehow, this bond of theirs grew so gradually, so subtly, escaping Viktor’s notice as it entwined itself into every facet of their lives, strangling all else with its roots until only its verdant bloom remained.
“Let me go, Jayce.”
The grip on him tightens. “I won’t.”
No. He’s made that quite clear. Viktor lacks the strength to shake him off; if he tried, Jayce would surely release him, but to rob Jayce of his sole source of comfort would not be right, nor good, and so Viktor waits. A minute passes, then two, then four.
The rune swallows them up, and abandons them in an unfamiliar land. Is this not what they wanted? With naught but the clothes on their backs, they are left to wander. To wonder.
