"Jo’s voice is in his ears and skull and bones, vibrating in his chest and through his esophagus and up into Sakura’s brain. He mouths absently at the neck-line of Jo’s hood and rubs the pattern of the stitches between his top teeth and the tip of his tongue, his mind slipping even further away from coherence as Jo begins to sway him gently. His breath hitches, more tears bubbling out of him with little gasping cries, but everything feels so much softer now.
Being in Jo’s lap feels like sitting in a cloud, a safety net, a shock blanket to keep him insulated from the elements. He feels like the sort of home Sakura used to scream into his floor at night and beg for. His pillows never made up for what he was desperately clawing for, which was this, this-this-this. Sakura blinks again, like a cat squinting suspiciously at a toy mouse. "But you just hit yourself—"
"I didn't," Kiryu says, like the bald-faced liar he is. "I got hurt and I need a band-aid, please."
"But you—"
"I have no clue what you're talking about, Sakura-chan."
"But—"
"I'm awfully wounded and need immediate medical attention, Sakura-chan."

Endo is positively beaming by the time Sakura gets close. He stands up from his seat and starts waving excitedly. Sakura has a put upon look on his face, but he doesn’t seem upset. Just mildly annoyed, if anything.
Wait, were they friends now?
“Can you hear what they’re saying?” Umemiya asks.
“I’m too far away to make out anything.“
“SAKURA-SAAAAAAAN!!!!”
And like a whirlwind, Sakura’s vice captains are at his side, bodily pulling him back and away from Endo’s reach.
