Summary
Noelle is a vampire. It's perfectly treatable - a few days under observation, a course of antivirals sent in from the big city, and she'll be her normal vegetarian self again. The only catch? If her mom finds out about this, she'll never see daylight again, vampire or not. If she wants to avoid the grounding of a lifetime, she'll have to resort to alternate methods of treatment.
Catti can help, but she warns Noelle that she'll need to feed soon, or she's risking more than just being grounded. And not just any blood will do... it has to be from a human. She likes doing things like this--feeling a desire to do something and following through without overthinking it. You could call it impulsiveness, but she prefers to think of it as quick judgment in risk assessment. There’s an electric thrill to knowing, in (relatively) sound mind, that you’re about to do something with an unpredictable outcome, after all. It’s hard to say if she feels anything when she touches it because of that--is that an electric shock, or just how it feels to do what you want, when you want it?

Summary
By the time a missing person has been missing for four years, their being missing becomes a sort of status quo. The absence is undesired, but something their loved ones grow accustomed to. It follows, then, that after the world is saved and a prophecy is averted, the missing person’s reappearance would be an upheaval of norms; doubly so when she returns exactly as she had been when she vanished and quickly rekindles her relationship with the kid she’d been fucking, now a more appropriate age.
(In which December Holiday makes a series of questionable decisions and experiences a number of alarming and painful personal revelations.)
