Summary
Tony glances over from his small workshop in their shared closet, reading the sign: CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE. He nods at Eddie. “You two doin’ alright?” He twirls the wrench in his hand and nearly knocks himself in the skull with it. “Need any help?”
Eddie shakes his head with an amused smile. “Just playing catch-up with some repairs. We’re fine, Tony, thanks for asking.” And they are fine. They’re better than fine. In fact they aren’t really closing for repairs at all.
But Tony doesn’t need to know about how Eddie has spent all day fixing up the club for Volt, all for an audience of one. The two of them don't want any distractions or prying eyes. Not for this performance. Not for this treasured moment. Volt is Eddie's favorite distraction, and more than that, Volt is his.
Eddie waves goodbye to Tony and slips back inside the Breaker Box, locking the door behind himself before resting against it. His gaze is immediately drawn to the sleek metal pole centered up on the stage, gleaming under the spotlights and waiting for Volt.

“I’m just trying to keep you safe!” Eddie shouts.
“Well I don’t need you to!”
Volt shrinks back when Eddie’s jaw ticks and his fists ball up at his side. He thinks, if they were still part of the breaker box, that there might be sparks dripping from his fingertips at the moment. Something in his chest throbs painfully when Eddie takes a deep breath and turns on his heel toward the entryway, grabbing his keys. “I’ll leave then,” he mutters.
And then he’s out the door.
Volt looks back at you, his eyes wide and hands shaky, and sees you huff and cross your arms over your chest. “Typical,” you complain. “Running away without actually solving the problem. That’s just like Eddie.”
“Live wire, we should go after him,” Volt begs. He can’t stand the idea of his two loves fighting. Of the three of you being separated. Of anything coming between you. Of Eddie being gone, for any reason.
You scoff, and it makes everything in Volt seize up. “Eddie can come back and apologize whenever he wants to. You know he will. I’m gonna enjoy my freedom while I have it.”

“Do we really have to spell it out for you?” Eddie asks, his cheeks red.
Your own face feels as heated as his looks. You glance at Volt, at the hand he has extended towards you. You’re flattered; there’s no other word for the fluttery feeling in your chest. You’ve really been through the wringer with these two men standing before you at the bar, and you can’t imagine leaving their sides now.
And yet…
You remember Dorian’s warning, about the seedy nature of your breaker box. You think about the trouble the two of them have already gotten you into—Eddie’s strong arms cradling you to his chest at the foot of the fallen ladder and Volt’s lips pressed maddeningly to yours under the hazy club lights. It’s not really trouble. You sense no bad intentions. But at the same time, you’ve never felt this way about anyone—let alone two someones.
Imagining real intimacy with them terrifies you. What if it’s not everything you hope it will be? What if it is, and you become addicted? You look at Eddie again, and he raises a concerned brow at you. Could you take the leap and content yourself with drowning in the two of them?

Summary
Volt scrapes his fork uselessly through the remains of his lunch. He picks at the platinum polish that’s chipping off of his thumb nail. He tries not to look at the clock on the wall by the front door of their apartment again, and fails.
It’s almost one in the afternoon.
Volt glances back at their closed bedroom door and fights off another wave of panic. Panicking won’t help anything. In fact, it might just make Eddie worse. He flops his head down onto the table.
He doesn’t know what’s wrong with Eddie. Volt thought, when he stretched awake earlier today, that it was just one of those rare mornings where he woke up a little bit before Eddie, that he wouldn’t be too far behind. He imagined getting to watch those gorgeous steel eyes flutter open. Or kissing his perfect mouth and over the line of his stubbled jaw until Eddie inevitably pushed him away so he could wake up properly.
He never did wake up.
