Summary
"Simon, are we like, engaged?"
Okay, he wasn't calm. He was borderline shrill. It doesn't help when he watches Simon swallow painfully, face pale and nervous.
"...No?"
Grace's eyebrows shot up into his hairline. "You're not sure?"

Or, that time Grace and Rocky steal Simon away from the blood ocean and the starless universe tries to take him back.

Summary
Grace is beautiful and brilliant and, inexplicably, always has a smile for him. He's an angel to Simon's dog and Simon will spend the rest of his life groveling at his feet.
He doesn't mind.
[Or: Simon believes he needs to give Grace something in return for everything. Along the way, he falls in love, all while thinking Grace views their arrangement as something purely sexual.]

Inspired by Beauty and the Beast.

Summary
Confirmation bias: the human tendency to search for, interpret, and recall information that aligns with our existing beliefs, while ignoring or dismissing evidence that contradicts them.
No matter what Grace tries to tell him, Simon is very sure that the man is divine in nature. It just makes sense.
~~~
Simon winds up in The Enclosure, naturally. Grace is super down to have human company on planet Erid, but he really wishes someone would have given him a little bit of warning first. Especially about Simon’s religious cult upbringing — if he had known about that, he maybe could have planned a better-worded greeting that wasn’t basically, “Be Not Afraid.” He really set them up for failure with that one.
(Simon thinks he's dead and that Grace as an angel for A While due to continued misunderstandings)[NO AI USED, AND DO NOT FEED MY WORK TO AI, I EXPRESSLY FORBID IT.]
Summary
“I deserve to be punished for my disobedience. Please, let me atone for my sins, my angel.”
I should punish him for this. I wanted to punish him. But to punish him for cutting himself by cutting him seemed counterintuitive. And truthfully, I didn't trust myself to cut him in this state. How do I punish him without punishing him?
Oh.
There’s an idea.
Simon breaks the one rule of their dynamic, now Grace has to get creative with his punishment
