Summary
A surprise military coup by General Pepper remakes Lylat into a fascist empire overnight, and the only one who warned Fox is the last person he ever wanted to trust: Wolf. Thrown together as fugitives, their rivalry gives way to something else, until the regime abducts Wolf and rebuilds him into its perfect weapon, a killer devoted to a twisted phantom of Fox himself. To reach him, Fox must descend into Wolf's mind and the wounds that made him, even as Lylat rips apart. The deeper he goes the more he learns the truth behind his own father's legend, and the less sure he is that what he feels is something more, or only the need to fix a broken thing. Is it the same need his father had?

Summary
Only a month ago did the Star Fox team defeat Andross in what was considered to be the most consequential war in the Lylat System's history. The celebrations afterwards were, of course, beyond joyous: Cornerians clanged their pots out of their apartment windows in pure ecstasy as lively military parades marched up and down the streets, filling the generally quiet air of Corneria City. Indeed, for at least a week after the initial victory, one could still find champagne corks littering the streets.
And of course, the Star Fox team also celebrated immensely. The Cornerian Army held a boisterous party as the team landed in front of the army headquarters in their battle-damaged Arwings. The team had plenty to drink that day: they had not just defended the entire Lylat System from Andross, but Fox McCloud finally avenged his father.
Except, that was exactly the problem.
