“What’s going on?”
Scott made a strange, whiny noise at the back of his throat that made him sound a little like a kicked puppy. “Your scent.” He pulled on Stiles’s hoodie until their noses were practically touching.
“Scott, buddy, you’re going to have to be more specific.” Stiles rubbed a circle on the back of Scott’s hand with his thumb. “You know I don’t have werewolf senses.”
“You smell like… like…” Scott fumbled for words, his brow furrowed deeply. His eyes started to look a little wet, and that was something Stiles could not deal with.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay. I’m okay. Just tell me what’s wrong and we’ll fix it. I’ll—I dunno—shower really good, I promise.”
“You smell like something claimed you,” Scott finally said in a horrified whisper.

Summary
Casi dos años después de la derrota de Vecna y la retirada de los militares, los chicos recién graduados se han marchado a la universidad y Mike se ha quedado en Hawkins.
Ahora solo, Mike trata de perseguir su meta de convertirse en escritor, mientras la ausencia de Eleven se acentúa gracias a la de sus amigos y lo hace tambalearse en busca de una nueva normalidad, más tranquila y menos ruidosa, con sólo llamadas semanales con sus amigos y ninguna por parte de Will.
Afortunadamente, Hawkins es un pueblo pequeño y los lazos más inesperados pueden ser los más poderosos.
O Mike se queda sólo en Hawkins, profundiza su amistad con los demás rezagados y al final saca algo bueno de toda la mierda que le tocó vivir desde que Vecna entró (y salió) de sus vidas.
O Mike descubre que ser él mismo y que abrir su mundo no es tan imposible como pensó toda su vida. También aprende que, a veces, está bien dejar que lo cuiden.
