Summary
"I think El would love to see the world outside of Hawkins. But this isn't like the end of a campaign - it's not enough to just set the scene, you have to actually live in it, and through it, and beyond. You're not writing an ending."
Or, Mike tries to tell Will about the waterfalls. He's half successful.

Summary
Similarities. Faults. Cycles. Again, again, again.
She thinks about bullet ridden flannels and pregnant women and blood pumped into veins. She thinks about sharing something in return, a truth for a truth. She thinks about cycles and faults and cowardice.
“Do you ever think, about what happens, after?”
Or, El, Will, and a conversation before the end.
(Takes place loosely after Will's coming out scene if they had more than the canonical 15 minutes to talk. Obligatory first fic, no idea how to do tags or summaries)

Doing The Work by bomberqueen17, sassaffrassa
Fandom Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid, Game Changers | Heated Rivalry - All Media Types, Heated Rivalry (TV)
03 Jun 2026
Summary
Heated Rivalry fics, a mix of showverse and bookverse but showverse somewhat favored (no shade, I just love the work they did in the adaptation). In my usual fashion, I find sticking to canon as much as possible to be a fun challenge, I try hard with timelines and weird canon details and things, but I ultimately try to serve the characters most of all. I do tend to make people too nice to each other but I try to keep emotions vaguely plausibly-realistic.
Stories aren't in a sequence but I have also, because this is how I am as a person, largely tried to make them in continuity with one another.- Words:

Summary
HARRIS Fun fact: by the time someone has done a Big Year, they've been birdwatching for 24 years on average. How long have you been birdwatching?
ILYA There are loons that live at the cottage. I have seen them many times.
Cut to: footage of loons diving and surfacing on a lake.
ILYA They are not scary at all.
Cut to: footage of Ilya jumping at the sound of a loon call and yelling for Shane.
---
Or: Shane and Ilya attempt a Big Year of birdwatching across Canada and film it to raise money for the Irina Foundation. It goes about as you'd expect.

Summary
It is December, and Scott has been out for long enough to pretend to be used to it, and things are not perfect but they’re fucking good, and Ilya Rozanov is at his apartment for dinner—has been for over an hour—and he’s still waiting so stupidly hopefully to introduce a boyfriend who very, very clearly isn’t coming.
(Or: studies on coming out, learning patience, one-sided conversations, and other absurdist waiting games.)
