This story follows more of the book canon than the movies but this is a very good thing because throughout the book there were passages that said things like “they rode for a month” or “they stayed for two weeks” so there is all this time that was unexplored. Into all this downtime Eareniel has had the company get to know Bilbo and slowly make their way to being friends. Also, a thread of Bagginshield is woven gently throughout despite Thorin being a prize jerk for a good deal of it. BOFA fix-it too.
