Chapter 1

Dear Maxine Caulfield,

With much appreciation, I write to thank you for attending my tea social last Saturday. Your knowledge of the budding field of photography breathed new life into our conversations. Miss Scott spoke my thoughts when she declared your enthusiasm for the new art medium as a progressive step for women everywhere. May your passion serve you well and I hope you grace us with your presence this Saturday for another social. I spoke with Miss Price and Miss Chase and they will be joining us.
