Judgement: Passed

Summary:

The liaison only had a few more weeks to complete their duties aboard the Lost Light. They spent about a decade in space and the call for their skill sets is needed elsewhere. Unfortunately, the wrong crowd hired them and now they must find a way out of this job or be stuck in another decade-long contract.

Notes:

No designated end to this story. I have a few ideas of who I want the reader to be so I may just end up giving them their own nicknames, personalities, etc. to try a few different ideas out. This story will mainly focus on the liaison and Tarn in a romantic/sexual relationship. As the chapters are released, I will make sure to let you know if there is smut in the specific chapter. I'm also kind of rough draft, skimming over for spelling mistakes as I don't want to spend ages making it into a perfectly polished work. So do keep that in mind!

Chapter 1: New Beginnings Prolouge

Song suggestions to listen to when reading:
JC: Guardian ; First day on the Lost Light

There are no words to describe the emotion you feel as you take the first steps onto the walkway towards your new home. A ship that appears to stretch into forever full of promise, hope, and unresolved conflicts. You are not alone, yet you feel as if you are the only person in the universe at this very moment. No familiar sights to ground you let alone faces. At least, ones that you can go to and put you at ease. There are some that stand out to you as they were part of the hiring process for the liaison program Earth and her colonies across the Sol System to help maintain peace. It is a new program, and no one knows how it will hold over in the coming years, but this is just the start of a new chapter towards peace.

You are brought back from your own thoughts as you take a moment to register your name being called out towards you. You blink as you look around, only to see a brightly colored red and orange mech waving towards you. You smile and wave back, walking over towards him and the group forming around him. You recall why he looks so familiar until you remember your interview a few weeks ago. He is Rodimus, one of the captains of the Lost Light and was one of the first Cybertronians you met. He is witty and likable, which made you feel a little more at ease, especially during the interview when the other three who sat in asked more academic questions. The tension is felt among the other humans from the system, but you all look at each other with excitement and pride. Out of the dozens of schools and businesses that qualified, hundreds of applications that were reviewed, only thirty of you made it in the program. You are not sure if it was because of your status as an Earthling that helped you out, or if they really did take in the hard work and research you put into your studies that helped you be elected for the job. Whatever it was, you are glad that you were standing here and not at home struggling with what to do next with your life.

Some of your fellow employees hailed from Earth, while most of the others came from colonies like ones set on Mars and Venus. You can quickly tell this to the colors of their jumpsuits. Earth has a dark gray with deep blue accents. While the overall gray was a common color, the accents differed. Red accents for Martians and yellow for Vesuvians. Along with the color scheme, patches of their school, planetary logo, and name were placed on the left sleeve of their arm to help identify each new crew member. You unknowingly stand next to other Earthlings as they pat your back in excitement to see others from their home world. Smiles all around and an even bigger one for Rodimus.

“Alright everyone, I know you’re all excited to get started, but there are a few things we need to go over.” All the humans paid attention to their newest leader with anticipation. What would their first jobs be? Would it be negotiations with the Decepticons? Perhaps an uprising faction that wants to continue this never-ending war? The newer recruits were too eager to start, some excitedly bouncing in place and others nervously biting their lips. The older ones who have been in the program since the beginning stood still and awaited orders. You hope you never grow to be that way.

Rodimus then explains, “You all remember Rewind!” Rewind silently waves as he has already begun the recording progress. “He was recording your interviews some time ago. Now, he’s going to follow you around and record your stay on the Lost Light. Don’t worry, we do this with every new group of liaisons to archive the whole thing. Now, who's ready to see the inside of your new home?” A few excited glances are shared among you and your peers as you follow the mech inside. The sights, sounds, even the smells all hit you differently. It is almost a sensory overload until you are too enamored by the sudden sight of more Cybertronians aboard the ship that you forget about the nauseous feeling you had just a moment ago.

You had not even noticed Rewind recording your reaction on seeing Megatron for the first time in person. Everyone knew about him. While it was enforced over and over again that he is no longer a threat to organics, there is a sudden chill that runs down your spine. You feel a reassuring hand placed on your shoulder to help ease the unwanted sensation. “Don’t worry, it does take some getting used to. You’ll be fine.” You look up to see Rewind giving you the pep talk as you nervously smile and continue the tour with most of the group. Those who already know their way have left to do their duties and the newer faces were all too distracted by the various types of mecha in their presence. You pause for a moment and look back behind you to see the space port for one last time as you set off on your journey. The doors close and seal with a hiss.

It is time to start your new life in the stars for the next ten years.
