Dream often thinks about that day at the Vault.
After all, it was his last day of freedom. The last time he saw the sun and felt grass under his feet, the last time he tasted fresh air. It was the day so many of his ‘friends’ decided to lock him up and throw away the key. But he tries not to think about that part.
Since Techno arrived the thing he has been wondering more and more is 'did Techno get his message?’ The desperate message he sent that day. Calling in his favor.
He did send it right? He use to be so sure, but lately he’s been forgetting. It’s been so hard to remember things and that day was already kind of fuzzy. He was so afraid, so sure he was going to die. So maybe he didn’t send it? And that’s why Techno never came, because he wouldn’t have ignored him right? Techno just never got the message. That must be it.
Dream can’t bring himself to ask. He knows what he wants to hear. Wants to hear Techno say “Of course I would have helped you. I wouldn’t leave you in here. I just didn’t know.”
But what if that’s not the truth? What if Techno did see it and just didn’t care?
Dream thinks that might actually break him. If it turns out that his friend ally left him alone in this horrible place for so long and he only came because of Quackity…
So Dream doesn’t ask and never will. But he does wonder.
