“what fucking investigators? what happened, euijoo?” nicholas tries to raise his voice, but it just comes out as a very angry whisper. euijoo shrinks back all the same. dr. walsh pulls up a chair and sits down beside nicholas’ bed. it feels strangely like when his mother came into his room as a child to tell him his grandmother had died. nicholas wonders distantly if someone has died.
“someone hurt you, nichol,” euijoo whispers, one trembling hand coming up to gently cup nicholas’ face. “but you protected yourself and you fought him off. that’s all that matters, okay?”
nicholas deflates completely into the bed, his eyelids heavy as he holds euijoo’s gaze. he’s too afraid to look down at his body. “i killed someone, didn’t i?” he asks weakly. everyone in the room knows the answer.

the first thing the doctor says to nicholas when he regains consciousness is, “you’ve lost a lot of blood.” it feels like he’s lost so much more.

Summary
he’s okay. nicholas repeats the words in his head again and again as he clings to euijoo. his chest feels cracked open and hollowed out, a shell of someone that he's not sure he ever was. his new meds make him sluggish and lethargic, which doesn't help with the shame and guilt he already feels for spending so much time in bed. he hasn't been able to stomach a full meal in three weeks. he doesn't feel any better, despite the treatment he's been receiving.
but for some reason, when euijoo says he's okay, nicholas believes him.

Summary
Fuma felt something shift in his chest. Miserably he realized that he's so fucked. He wanted to keep hearing Nicholas say those words in his home language, even if he didn't understand it. And he knew that now was the moment.
Taiwan would give him the perfect excuse.
Dinner ended with Nicholas' foot still hooked behind Fuma's ankle and everyone being none the wiser. Nicholas didn't look at Fuma anymore, for fear of confessing to him right then and there.
Nicholas sank into his hotel room mattresses and dreamt of a different type of visit to Taiwan where it was the two of them and no one else.

“He looks so cute. Don’t you think so?” Harua asks. He tilts his head upwards and stares at Yuma’s face, scanning his expression for an answer Yuma isn’t prepared to give. “He’s always cute, but I like how cute he looks when he’s asleep. When he can’t stop me from looking.”
What is Yuma supposed to say? Is he supposed to be honest? He doesn’t really have a choice because Harua can see through him even on his best days, let alone his worst. The last thing he needs is to be caught up in another lie. If Harua wants Yuma to tell him how cute his boyfriend is, then that is exactly what he will do.
“Yeah. He always is.” Yuma says.
“You look cute right now, too, Yuu-kun.” Harua nearly purrs, eyes flicking down to Yuma’s lips for a split second before snapping right back up. “Sometimes, I think you’re the cutest.”
Yuma likes Harua and his boyfriend, Taki.

Summary
Guilt is the only emotion Fuma can discern from the whirlwind of confusion spinning around inside his head. It’s a nauseating feeling, one that he wishes he could get rid of. He finds it hard to focus at all, unable to meet Yudai’s gaze as he drags his fingertips down his stomach.
Yudai makes a pleasant sound, an airy exhale that would calm Fuma down in any other context. Fuma’s stomach drops even further, and the intensity of the heat scares him. It isn’t supposed to feel like this, right? Is Fuma supposed to feel like he’s going to die, like his heart might stop and the world might end?
More than anything, Fuma is terrified of letting Yudai down.
Fuma is never going to have sex with Yudai.
