    Summary

One delayed flight. One closing airport bar. One truth or dare game that gets significantly out of hand.
Ilya Rozanov came to his ex-girlfriend's wedding to prove he was over it. Shane Hollander came to his best friend's wedding to prove he was fine. They were both lying, but they didn't know that about each other yet.

Then they had to share a room.

    Summary

    “It’s okay. I don’t need anything.”

“I am not going to eat in front of you while you have nothing, Hollander,” Ilya scoffs. He plucks a can of cold ginger ale from the top shelf as casually as he can manage and slides it over the island, interrupting Hollander’s fidgeting thumbs. “You must be hungry, yes? It’s been hours since you left hotel. I can make something. Easy.”

    “Make… what?” he asks warily.

Ilya rolls his eyes and tosses a look over his shoulder. “Do not worry. I will find something that works for your special hockey diet,” he teases. He reaches back into the fridge. “Tuna melt okay?”

“No,” Hollander says primly. “And it’s a disease. Not a diet.”

He pulls his hands out of the cold and turns, blinks. “What?”

    Summary

Ilya always loved watching his mother skate; even years after retiring from the competitive circuit, she floated across the ice like there was no gravity. He learned axles and salchows under her graceful guidance, and once he'd learned everything Irina had to teach him, she passed Ilya on to the professionals.

To move across the ice like it was effortless, fast but not aggressive, to throw himself through the air and pretend for a moment that nothing could bring him back to the ground; there was nothing like it.

Sometimes he thought if he jumped high enough, turned his body just right, he'd figure out a way to hang there, caught in the moment between gravity and air; maybe, just maybe, he could stay airborne, never to return home.

Sometimes he wonders if he could have found that height, if he could have saved her.

Irina Rozanova died on a cold Wednesday.

He'd found her lying there, cold hands curled around an empty bottle of pills.

He quit hockey the next day.

(Or: Ilya Rozanov is an Olympic figure skater. Shane Hollander is a professional hockey player. Somehow, they still figure it out.)

    Summary

Yuna’s entire body aches, and it would appear that her instincts were right— Rozanov is small, and he’s vulnerable, and he’s tired, and he needed somewhere safe to rest.

And Yuna can’t help the weird sense that she’s honoured— her home was somewhere for Rozanov to go, even if she and David knew nothing about any of it, even if they still don’t, Shane knew it would be safe for Rozanov here. Shane told him to come home.
