Summary
“Zhongli,” Venti manages to murmur. His throat still hoarse from the screams and probably the cold that he will get after this.
Golden arms fix him on a stool and Zhongli refuses to look at him.
Warm water pours on Venti’s head, making his hair cover his eyes again. Venti is sure that blood is dripping from his hair, too. Everything is reeking of coagulated blood, a remark of the familiarity of it dies in Venti’s tongue. Zhongli hasn’t said a single word since Venti woke up, it’s better not to bother him. The stars know what would happen if Venti said the wrong thing. If it were Venti who saw Zhongli stumble upon him with a hole in his chest, his reaction wouldn’t be a pretty one.
Also called: Zhongli's bad (or good?) timing when it comes to visiting Venti, and Venti's unlucky day.

"Hanging around in a wedding that’s not theirs, full of people neither of them know. It’s just a matter of time, until the alcohol’s effect and the lights behinds his eyelids make him take Venti’s hand. Then they make Zhongli press Venti against the wall outside the venue. This is unlike him; Zhongli has never been fond of hooking up with strangers. Friends of his have always made fun of Zhongli for not getting out there, for looking all miserable and searching for a person to be with but not making any move to get to know more people.
So Venti is a miracle of sorts."

For now, Phil forces himself up. Sometimes, if he lays in bed enough, Dan will check on him. And he’ll do his soft voice and bring Phil a coffee, and he’ll yap about something and get all worked up and Phil will just sit and smile at him.
It’s a tempting enough thought that Phil almost wants to go back to bed and wait for it. Sometimes, he does. But today, the idea of someone doting on him for a nothing issue– just another Phil migraine– feels… annoying. Phil feels annoying, for that. And maybe someday Dan will realize that this is all really annoying, that Phil wasn’t like this when they first met. That Phil used to be energetic and chase him around his mum’s house and fuck him hard enough to make the bedsprings squeak. Now, Phil’s got a bit of a headache. And he’s thirty four.
