    Jusis had left to answer whatever it was that called to him, the true test of his uncompromising ideals now that he was grown enough to leave the nest.

    Rufus, for a time, believed himself lucky enough to have escaped his fate, but he was soon enough called back to Bareahard, a cage that he would have to call 'home' again for the foreseeable future, as he untangled the mess his father left behind.

    And Lloyd, a person of action, would need to wait from afar and pray that that would be enough to shield his home from the raging inferno brought by storms brewing from all sides.

    There was nothing to be gained from fighting the inevitable and doubting which way the wind blew, not when the pattern of the stars was already marked upon the veil of the dawning night. The path was set, and the players were ready. It was time to play the great game of fate for all its worth.
