And then, there was Matthias.
Matthias was so different from what Jesper was used to. He wasn’t the sharp Inej, or the directing Kaz, or the playful Nina, or the lovely Wylan. Matthias wasn’t like any of the lovers Jesper had taken before the crows either. No Matthias was his own thing completely. Maybe it was his Fjerdan roots.
Matthias was modest in almost every sense. He was less so around Nina, their shared history making him comfortable, but with the rest of them, he always seemed reserved.
Which was a damn shame. Because Jesper wanted him. He wanted him bad.

Jesper leaned forward, steepling his hands.
“What’s the bet?” he asked, suddenly intrigued.
Nina snapped her fingers, shoving Jesper over so she could sit next to him.
“I bet you twenty bucks that you can’t get his number.”
Jesper’s jaw dropped. He burst into laughter.
Nina challenges Jesper to a bet. Jesper decides he is going to win said bet.

Wylan flushed red all over, whining as he kept his eyes downcast. In the past, Jesper probably would have snarled at Kuwei for the pet name, glaring at him for even daring to address Wylan that way.
But they weren’t in the past. If they were, they wouldn’t even be here with Kuwei. Jesper didn’t feel a lick of bitterness. Instead, he just felt another wave of arousal at how easily affected his boyfriend was. He couldn't blame Wylan, either — Jesper was pretty sure he’d had the exact same reaction a couple times back when he and Kuwei were fuck buddies.
“That’s okay,” Kuwei said, pressing a kiss to Wylan’s warm cheek and tucking a stray curl behind his ear. “I can show you how it’s done.”
