Sleep evaded Legend at the best of times, elusive like a darting fairy. Part of him fumed at not being able to rest easily, and part of him was quietly relieved.
After all, less sleep meant less dreams. And having less dreams was probably for the better. Legend’s tended to be far too realistic for his tastes.

Lian’s eyes swept across the briefing table in the meeting room, taking stock of her teammates. Maya was quiet and scowling mildly as usual. Irey was leaned all the way back in her chair, feet propped up on the table, head lolled back to stare at the ceiling. Tai looked bleary-eyed and ready to fall asleep sitting up. Maps was distracted by fidgeting with the beads on her bracelet. Chris was actually reading a book. Damian alone was sitting ramrod straight and attentive, staring at Lian like his eyes would bore holes through her.
Or: Lian Harper is the leader of her generation of Teen Titans. She's never really gotten along too well with Damian.

There was an acute sense of shame making its way through Wally’s body. He felt heat rise in his cheeks. And what kind of father, what kind of person would need to check constantly that his children were still there in the bassinet, would distrust the baby monitors, would surge awake half a dozen times in one night with a panicky feeling in his ribs that insisted they weren't really there? Not a normal one, certainly.
Or: Wally West is the fastest man alive. He's also a father now. Turns out he has a lot to learn from his twin babies. It also turns out nothing stays buried forever, no matter how much he wishes it could.
