If you asked Wei Wuxian, it was all Huaisang's idea. If you asked literally anyone else, it was Wei Wuxian's fault entirely. At least, that was Huaisang's story and he was sticking to it. He couldn't fathom how else this could have happened. More importantly, he couldn't fathom how he was going to explain this to his brother. The sound of echoed footsteps, loud and heavy and rapidly approaching, let Huaisang know he was out of time to think up excuses.
"HUAISANG! I send you here to bring me back a core and you bring me back two drunk clowns instead?! How do you even swear brotherhood while drunk?!"

Summary
Young love and the desperation to be understood was what bound them together the first time. Jiang Cheng destroyed that with his own hands.
What binds them together the second time was probably the exact same things but with a much more bitter flavor.
Two men with nothing left but the consequences of their own actions and a bitter hatred for the hand fate has dealt them find their way into each other's arms a second time around. Whatever that means for them is up to them to decide from here on out.

Contrary to popular belief, having your father adopt any idiot he comes across does not automatically lead to peace and harmony as a thousand-strong crew. It feels like the water only ever stills when Whitebeard’s about to throw another boneheaded rookie in to disrupt it. Then everyone goes to Marco to whine about how they don’t want another brother. And this brother is clearly too much of a handful. And can’t you talk to Pops, Marcooooo.
The crew is a powder keg on a good day, but like hell is Marco going to let Portgas D. Ace be the thing that sets it off.
