A person’s 16th birthday was a big deal amongst royalty. It marked the transition from youth into adulthood, and was celebrated with a large coming of age party. It was also when their secondary gender would be officially announced.
As Cloud’s birthday was fast approaching, the castle was hectic as they prepared for the upcoming party. Although he had never been one for royalty, as his mother’s only son he knew he’d one day have to take over the throne, and he understood all the extra responsibilities that came with it, including the fact that his marriage would be a political one.
After an unexpected meeting with the quirky young prince of a neighbouring kingdom during his party, Cloud wonders if he might be able to make friends with the boy. However, he later realizes it’s not just friendship he wants, but something more.
