Summary
The doctor tilts her head to the only source of warmth in the cold, hospital room. “And who’s he?”
Buck’s eyes drift to Eddie, hungry for the sight of him. They fall upon the tense line of Eddie’s shoulders, the firm press of otherwise plump lips, watching like the very air in his lungs depend on Buck’s answer.
“That’s Eddie,” Buck answers, and the smile sneaks up on him. “Eddie Diaz. My partner.”
There. Relief washes through Eddie in a visible wave: his shoulders drop, features relaxing with the soft push of an exhale. Buck warms at the sight. Right answer.

A polysemy is a word with multiple, related meanings. The word partner, for example, can mean close friendship, a teammate, a co-parent. To someone else, it can also mean a lover. -

Summary
“You fucked him,” Buck says, easy as two plus two.
“I mean—” and Eddie cuts himself off immediately. He doesn’t know if correcting Buck and saying he fucked me is the best course of action at this point.
Buck stares, almost hopeful, as if expecting Eddie to follow it up with a negative on the accusation. I mean, that’s not what happened or, I mean, that’s clearly lotion on the bed, dumbass. Buck stares and stares, and the hope withers and dies, and he finally lets out a short, disbelieving laugh that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
“Jesus, Eddie. So what— what, you fuck men now? Were you even gonna tell me?”
Or, Eddie sleeps with the Boston firefighter, and Buck takes it about as well as you'd expect. What's a little roughhousing between friends, anyway?

Summary
"Sorry." Buck shifts his weight, folding his arms and drawing in his shoulders, missing the attempt to look unassertive by a mile. “Is there a problem?”
She doesn’t answer Buck’s question, which by itself can be assumed as answer enough. “Were you aware that while partners are allowed, couples are not?”
“Yeah?” Buck’s voice climbs at the end, mirroring the same confusion Eddie feels painted over his features.
“Then you understand why we have to disqualify you.”
Spoiler alert: they're not a couple. (yet)

Summary
“Probably been a minute since they got any,” Eddie says, voice dry.
“Been a minute for you too,” Buck shoots back, and he doesn’t mean for his voice to dip, or for him to step forward in that same breath.
Too late to take it back now though; the context, the subtext, the combination of it all, has propelled them right over the invisible line they’ve flirted with for nearly a decade, a line they tease and retreat from in equal measure, and— Here’s the thing, right?
Eddie won him.
Or, Eddie wins Buck at the auction, and Buck figures the least he can do is make the victory worthwhile.

Summary
“I didn’t hit my head,” Eddie shakes his head free with an irritated huff and shoots Buck a glare. “Stop deflecting. What are you sorry for?”
(the flashback, the freeze,
the shove,
the dull, sickening thud of Eddie’s body taking the hit meant for him)
Buck swallows; where does he even begin? There is no stopping the barrage once he opens his mouth. The guilt will spill out messy and humiliating, and he will cry, and he will abase himself, and he will beg for forgiveness even though he is undeserving of it.

Summary
So, here's the thing. Civil War happened and I was not happy about what happened with Tony.
I am still not happy, and will continue to not be happy; therefore, I shall project said unhappiness through these fics.

Summary
The idea comes to him on one of his drives through the mountains.
He’s driving up, and up, and up until the road has a steep, sheer drop on one side, and nobody’s driving alongside him. He’s headed to the top of a mountain. There’s a gravel pull-off right before a hairpin turn. The turn is protected by a flimsy guardrail.
Eddie parks on the pull-off and walks over to look past the guardrail.
Nothing underneath. Just dry underbrush. A shallow stream right at the bottom. Thin vegetation. If a car missed the curve at a fair speed, it would plummet down the cliff. Next to no chance of survival.
And Eddie’s known to drive, to clear his own head. He used to do it to find hiking trails for him and Buck, or roadside attractions or activities that Christopher might like. It’s a known hobby of his. He’s a good driver.
So it’s not convincing if he crashes in good weather. He’ll have to wait for a storm.
But it’ll work. It has to work.

Summary
Thundering footsteps come down the hallway, bust into the room.
Eddie, pausing at first in the doorway, then eyes bursting wide in shock. He jumps to Buck’s side, hand warm and heavy across his back.
A guttural sound comes from deep in Buck’s chest–not a scream or a groan, something instinctual and animalistic, a rabbit as the wolf's teeth dig into its neck.
"Buck? Holy shit. Buck, Buck, what did she give you? What did you give him?" Eddie shouts.
"Mom?" Buck whimpers.

this was insane. oh my fucking god. this is insane. the writing, buck’s inner dialogue, margaret’s characterisation, the pacing, the narration switching between the present and pivotal/relevant moments of buck’s life…. holy shit. what a journey ohhhhh my god. i cannot even put into words how beautifully visceral the writing was--it so so perfectly captured this gut-churning (pun intended?) experience RAHHHHHH. so many bits stood out to me and they were practically like a punch to the stomach GODDD buck checking the nyquil, buck cross checking daniel’s records, when charlie’s case was brought up, the voicemail that he gets convinced is a lie, and these are just off the too of my head cos WOOOW. i loved buck’s constant battle of trying to be in control but also unable to resist this was so so so twisted UGHHHHH
Buck’s in control this time. Even if Margaret chooses what he eats, how much he eats, when and how often he’s allowed to go to the bathroom, how long he’s allowed to sleep, who he texts, what he texts, how far the window opens, how fast the fan spins, when and how heavy his dosages of medicine come.
Buck’s in control.
stunning stunning stunning

Summary
“Eddie,” Buck tries. “You could, uh… I get why you asked for two rooms, but maybe we should…” The bed is small. They’d be touching all night, and that would be bad, given what happened last night—it would be terrible; Buck definitely doesn’t want it.
He doesn’t want Eddie pressed against his chest, doesn’t want his soft, steady breath at his ear. He doesn’t want it so bad that he says, “Splitting up gets people killed in horror movies.”
Eddie’s answering smile is surprisingly soft. “We’re not in a horror movie, Buck.”

They're in a horror movie. 9x13 alternate version.

bri literalmetaphor you are a literaltrailblazer--first the bly manor au and now this motel thriller????? dare i say you are the best thing to happen to the buddie tag because GODDDDDD you have outdone yourself with this fic. wow. WOW. the tension, the atmosphere, the description, the foreboding, the tension simmering BETWEEN THEM, and the characterisation, and even the OC's!!! GOD!!! 10/10!!! the way you portrayed buck and eddie, from buck's initial there-is-something-very-very-wrong-here and eddie's i'm-suspicious-but-there's-a-rational-explanation-here approach was SOOOO scrumptious and seeing as they were already on a bit of an awkward footing from the night before of COUUUURSE it stands to reason that they're not 100% in sync in the events that preceded the torture room. there were so many moments when i genuinely had to pause and switch apps cause my bpm was skyrocketing, like:
Nora smiles, and it’s almost sympathetic as she passes behind Eddie and grazes his shoulders with the knife. “You know, I’m already impressed, Buck. A lot of people look away because they just can’t stomach it, but you…” She licks her lips and starts the same process on Eddie’s opposite side, but she’s not looking at Eddie—she’s looking at Buck. “Even now, you can’t take your eyes off him.”
BUCK UNABLE TO LOOK AWAY. UUGGGHHHHH. this is his worst nightmare come to life and he physically cannot look away because he doesn't want to miss what may very well be eddie's last moments alive. FUCK. FUUUCKK!!!! just mindblowing seriously wow. i know you said you wrote this for yourself but you also wrote this FOR ME.

Summary
“If Buck gets his way, you’re the one getting laid tonight,” Ravi points out. And then he tries not to think about what that would be like, Eddie under some beautiful and anonymous woman—or worse, Buck—while Ravi goes home alone to his right hand and a box of tissues.
Eddie takes another sip. “Buck gets his way as much as he needs to.”
And isn’t that just enigmatic enough to get Ravi invested? He takes his own sip, trying to seem cool and disinterested. The problem with looking cool is that it’s much easier to achieve from afar. Eddie has seen him puke in a bush after a gruesome call, and once Ravi got broken up with by text when he was on-shift and ate an entire pint of ice cream, and Eddie knows he plays frolf, of all things, and it is very hard to be cool under those circumstances.
Or: Ravi doesn't have a crush on Eddie, because he has self-preservation instincts. Okay, maybe he doesn't. Because if he did, the evening wouldn't end with him trailing Eddie to his truck, filled with foolish hope.

WOOOOOWIEEEE!!! clapping my hands kicking my feet and geeking the fuck out this was sooooo scrumptious. i love a ravi pov and this is done so so well, he knows he wants eddie, wants something more with eddie, but is also well aware eddie is not his to want; eddie will always be bucks but ravi, he gets this ONE night.
Anything he does that is reminiscent of Buck would work tonight, he thinks, and that’s why he should do it, let himself inhabit Buck's mannerisms so he can touch Eddie tonight.
wow. yum yum. also just love love eddie getting with other men before buck it's what eddie deserves!!!!
