Summary
Purple wants Gold's dad back too. He really does. Gold's dad being back would mean that Gold would stop killing herself and she would eat and sleep without him reminding her too and Gold's dad would smile at them in that tired-but-kind way he always did and ruffle their hair and say he's proud of them, real proud of them, for building the staff and making the plan and trying so hard to save him. Then they could go back home, all three of them, like a family.
(It's really, really not fair.)
or:
in which gold is the grieving worldkiller, and purple is her brother, and neither of them know how to be a family anymore.

Summary
There's a whole tidal wave of emotions threatening to pull Saccharina out to sea to drown. She swallows them all down, forces a shaky smile onto her face. "It's nice to meet you as well," she says politely. "I would say I've heard much about you, but I fear that might be an exaggeration."
"Ruby doesn't talk about me much, I would imagine," Jet nods sagely. "Has she at least told you about my ideas? You gotta ask her about my ideas, I had so many of them!"
Saccharina thinks about the last time she had tried to ask Ruby about something Jet related, and the anger that had flashed across Ruby's face. Nowadays, Ruby is better at swallowing that anger down and being kind instead, but she's not nearly as good as hiding it as she might think she is and Saccharina knows, she knows their relationship is nowhere near the levels she once dreamed it to be. "I will try," she says quietly. "Your twin is very hard to approach sometimes."

When Fabian is ten, his Papa tells him the story of how he married his mother.
It’s a gory tale, one that involves a cut eye and bodies hitting the deck. He tells Fabian of a love that sent him to his knees, that leads a man like him– fearsome and powerful, the greatest pirate to ever live– to start a family.
A love that gave him Fabian.
---
A study on Fabian, grief, and, ultimately— love.

Summary
Ariadne loves her brother. Loves him with a strength that scares her in its intensity, loves him more than her kingdom, more than her crown, more than anything else in the whole world, loves him truly and wretchedly and madly.
It is that last part that gains her some attention.
(I suppose Aphrodite was busy that day.)

Summary
The tears are still sticky on Caramelinda's cheeks when Amethar proposes.
"Look, I know this isn't what you wanted," he says, knelt down before her in his bloodstained armor, a messy spray of green sap drying across his breastplate. "It's not what I—" he exhales, heavy. "Fuck. I thought I'd be walking Laz down the aisle, not taking her place at the altar."
[minor spoilers for episode 9: safe harbor]
