Alex’s hatred of Henry had started the way most gym rivalries start—with theft. Equipment theft, to be precise. Henry had stolen the squat rack Alex had been marching toward with righteous purpose. And, of course, that was practically a capital offense in Alex’s book, on top of the spectacularly shitty day he’d already been having. Henry wasn’t just a stranger in compression shorts anymore—he was an enemy. His gym nemesis. His arch-rival in spandex or skimpy little shorts depending on the day.

Scratch that. Alex hasn’t even thought about being a dad. Kids are something for future Alex to—maybe, possibly—someday consider, once he has his shit together.
Present-day Alex doesn’t know how to feel and what to think. His career has just started to grow wings.
But the thought of having a child and knowingly abandoning it—just like he was abandoned—Alex can’t even think about that.
