Wei Ying never died, but he was resurrected anyway.
Lan Zhan still looks at him the same, that unrelenting gaze spiked through with adoration if you know where to find it. Lan Zhan doesn’t care if Wei Ying has both of his eyeballs. He doesn’t care about the materials that make up Wei Ying's hands and legs. He acts like he doesn’t even notice, and hey. If the whole world was a hermetically-sealed pod that contained no one but him and Lan Zhan, he could bluff like none of it ever happened. The memories would be just that: memories. He’d fold them up, origami of the mind, and stick them under the center console of his brain with a wad of well-chewed gum. Bam.

Summary
Inside the bakery, Lan Zhan works the dough one last time. He hasn’t looked up once. When he does, Wei Ying bites his tongue on the shriek that tries to bust out of his throat. He freezes like a startled rabbit, like he thinks Lan Zhan is a predator who can’t see movement.
It’s fine. Lan Zhan doesn’t see him.

This night is not the best of times. Wei Ying widens his eyes. “Lan Zhan, isn’t our love even more immutable? Really! You won’t dare to try? I’m wounded.”

"They seem to be doing better," he says, encouragingly. "If they--oh, no, I see what you mean."
At the near bank, someone has pressed someone else against the rocks and is kissing them frantically.

Wei Wuxian bows in return, and the sect leaders begin the opening courtesies, and for all of ten minutes Lan Wangji is under the impression that he is betrothed to a boy who is perfectly normal and acceptable apart from an unfortunate tendency to fidget with his clothes.
That impression does not last.
