Summary
“I’m sorry,” Yeonjun murmurs, barely dodging another pothole, “for bringing you out here.”
It’s probably not the best one-year anniversary celebration choice, putting them both in danger and breaking city rules, but this feels vital in a way that Yeonjun can’t explain. He’s been keeping this secret for so long now and he can’t share it with Soobin at home, where his parents are always fighting, or in any of their usual hangouts because their city is small and eyes are everywhere.
“It’s fine,” Soobin says now and his big hand curves over Yeonjun’s knee, a warm touch that makes Yeonjun shiver in spite of the summer heat permeating the car. “It’s not like we haven’t done this before.”
(Or in a slowly dying world, where the dark has teeth, Yeonjun takes steps towards figuring out his gender identity and Soobin is a supportive boyfriend.)
