Summary
How far would you go to save a life or end one?
Enter a world where vengeance reigns, battles rage, and sacrifices are made for love. Stars of the renowned Abernathy Traveling Circus, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, must navigate a world ravaged by a mysterious illness that left a portion of the population, including themselves, with the power to conjure and control the four elements. Feared and loathed, this group, known as Arche, are hunted and forced to battle to the death as entertainment for those the illness left unchanged.
After Katniss's power is inadvertently exposed when she and Peeta are made to perform together, resulting in her capture. Katniss becomes an undefeated battle champion, forced to battle other Arche to survive and keep her loved ones safe. Yet, as she longs for escape from the life of blood and death she finds herself in, she is pitted against the last person she expects: Peeta Mellark. Now Katniss must kill someone she has an unexplainable connection to, not knowing that he has a secret of his own.

Katniss Everdeen. District 12’s "Astute Archer." Loved by many, loves nobody. You could count on your fingers and toes how many suitors this girl gets, yet love seems to be far from her multiple goals; and Peeta Mellark, who is basically her in another gender (except for the fact that he’s new in archery and more charming, per se). You could tell the look on people's faces when they were announced as trainer and trainee.
Set in an Alternate Universe, wherein the games aren’t a matter of survival, nor is it meant to be entertaining to watch or a spectacle, but rather a show of skills in sports. The last duo standing wins.

Katniss had tried not to fall for him. She had built her walls carefully, stone by stubborn stone, layering them with caution and distance, convincing herself that she could keep everything contained if she was strong enough, guarded enough. She had told herself that love was a risk she could not afford, not in a world that took so much and gave so little back.
But Peeta had always been stubborn.
Her Peeta never forced his way in, never broken through what she built. Instead, he had been patient and clever, he found the smallest openings, the quietest cracks she did not even realize were there, and slipped into them like water until his presence was no longer something she could contain, until it rose and rushed through her like a waterfall, filling her with everything she had once tried to deny.
