Summary
“So–” Dennis starts, and Trinity honestly isn’t sure how she’s going to explain this one.
“I know it’s weird,” she says, gripping the steering wheel.
“I mean, it’s not that weird,” Dennis placates.
“He’s kind of a trainwreck,” Trinity defends, and then feels some type of way about the fact that she’s defending Langdon.
Dennis doesn’t disagree.
She promises him, “It’s only temporary.”
(Langdon's wife kicks him out. Trinity offers up her couch. She ends up learning a few things about her sworn enemy in the process.)

Summary
Her stomach jolts at his words, something cold spreading through her bloodstream so fast it makes her fingertips tingle. No.
His hand tightens around her neck, and she thinks that it’s overkill, really, because she’s not sure that she’d be able to breathe even if it wasn’t there, even if she didn’t just get essentially body slammed by what felt like a football linebacker. His other hand is moving lower, squeezing and grabbing roughly at her stomach, her hips, her thigh.
And she’s trained for this. She’s planned for this. She’s thought through this scenario in her head, so many times, what she would do if it happened again. She takes Krav Maga, for fuck’s sake.
But she can’t breathe, and she can’t move, and she’s 12 years old again.
____
Trinity is assaulted at a bar. Her least favorite coworker is, somehow, the one who’s there for her after.

Summary
"I was friends with his son, remember?" Langdon placed a hand on the back of his neck, hanging it there with a sigh. "His dad, Rob, Robert, liked to do um, private tutoring."
Trinity picked up on the intention behind that phrase in a second, a fiberglass splinter dug into her palm that nothing would get out. All he was doing was pressing on the remnants, not even a dot to show for it but a bruised memory all the same.
She felt like she'd been dried out in the sun, and he was only half looking at her, brows sewn together with sinew thread and nerve endings, voice paper rough. "He, he uh.. fuck, you'd think after enough time it would get easier to say, huh?"
I get what you've gone through to get here.
========
Being stuck in an elevator already sucked, Trinity had decided. Throw in Langdon, his inability to just stay still, and her incessant need to know how other people perceive her, and you end up getting much, much more than you bargained for.
Or; Santos and Langdon get stuck in an elevator, and find out they're much more alike than either of them would've liked in experiences with predatory sports coaches.

Summary
Be kind to yourself, Cassie says in his head, soft and gentle. But Frank can’t. There is no world in which he can be kind to a version of himself that hurts Robby, especially sober. He’s supposed to be better now; he’s spent ten months clawing his way back inch by inch to being a person instead of a loose collection of hurts and cravings and spikes that pierced anyone nearby. But it seems that the version of himself that can connect with Robby, see eye-to-eye with him, talk to him without feeling like a gut punch, died the day of Pittfest last year.
--
Three conversations between Langdon and Robby, after Langdon's return.
